The Scoop: Update to Agents

In previous versions of Edvance360 LMS, elearning course designers and facilitators could set up Agents (an “if this happens, then this should happen” tool – for a full tutorial on agents, click here) to manage things or notify learners of events/tasks/deadlines.  They could also set agents to notify the instructor or course facilitator (teacher). In Version 8.1, they have the added option of sending the notification to Teaching Assistants/assistant facilitators.

Example: If an instructor knows the learners will procrastinate on an assignment, they can set up gentle reminders (getting perhaps less gentle as time goes on) to remind the learners the assignment will be due. It’s a “smart” feature, so it won’t send a reminder to a student who has already turned it in. They can also set it to send a list to themselves (summary) of the students who have not yet completed the assignment.  Now, in Version 8.1, they can send the same summary or list to the designated assistant. See quick video below.

Agents are a great time-saving tool. It also engages learners, making them feel they’ve been contacted personally, even though the system actually generated the contact automatically. Many of our clients have several agents running on a single course, managing tasks so the administrators and facilitators don’t have to. If you have any comments or suggestions on Agents, please feel free to share them! We are always looking to improve.
